Comet Club-

We are proud to announce that we will be continuing the program that rewards students who are safe, respectful, and responsible. It is called the “Comet Club 360.” In case you are wondering, the ‘360’ is related to math, as it is the amount of degrees in a circle. The thinking behind this is that students who participate are “all-around” great kids. In the “Comet Club 360,” students will be collecting laminated tags. Each quarter, students will receive a laminated tag if they meet the following guidelines:

  • No office behavior referral forms

  • No more than 2 behavior notices (white slips)

for classroom and playground behavior

  • No more than 3 absences of any kind for each quarter (Exception: If a student misses three or more consecutive days, he/she may be exempted if a parent provides a doctor’s note)

  • No more than 3 tardies/early outs

  • No more than 3 “dress code violation” slips

  • Complete 90% of their homework on time

  • Complete 90% of their classwork on time

Not only do the students receive a cool laminated tag, they will also get to participate in a special activity on designated “Comet Club 360” days. These activities will only be for those that have received the tag by being safe, respectful, and responsible. Some of the possible activities for the “Comet Club 360” days are listed below:

* Academic game time * Arts and crafts * Special assemblies

* Rated G movie * Outside P.E. games * Special treats

Fortunately, a student has a “fresh start” after each quarter. This means that even if your child doesn’t make it on one round, continue to encourage your child to do their best. We hope to see every child succeed.

Fall Baskets-

Are you ready for Krystal’s amazing raffle baskets?? Krystal’s raffle baskets help raise funds for field trips and assemblies for our students, as well as give our families a chance to win an amazing basket! As part of this, classrooms collect donations to create extreme-themed prize baskets. Once baskets are complete, they will be available for viewing and raffle tickets will be on sale October 17th-21st.

Please support our class and our school by donating one or more new items for our grade level baskets. This year, our grade level basket will be Family Fun (games). Some suggestions for basket items are listed below, in case you need ideas. Thank you to the parents who have already sent in items for the basket. All donations are due by Monday, October 3rd. Books/Reading: I have had some questions about what to use for reading material at home, here are some good suggestions: Bob books, Step into Reading, and First Little Readers. When you or your child is reading at night, make sure to look for sight words, practice sounding out words, and print elements (print goes left to right, change in word font/sizes, speech bubbles, table of contents, headings, etc.) Make reading meaningful, but also read just for fun!

Birthdays: We have small birthday celebrations. If you would like to bring or drop off birthday treats they need to be individually wrapped treats or goodie bags. Cupcakes and cakes are not allowed unless they are like twinkies or hostess cupcakes. The best time for treats are in the afternoon, after 1:30pm.

Walk-up and Drive-Up Reminders: Please make sure if you are drive up that you stay in your vehicle and have your childs name displayed in the window. Parents/Visitors are not allowed to walk up to the drive up area to get students. If you are walking in the front of the school to reach the office, please use the crosswalk near the walk-up area. The cross walk in front of drive-up is closed during drive-up time. Finally, make sure to have a sign with your childs name when picking up at walk-up.

This has been a wounderful start to the school year.
