FAQs

1. Assessments: 

Q - Will the district provide CFAs or any kind of assessment district-wide?

A - Assessments (CFAs) will be decided upon in PLCs. For grades 3rd-12th we do encourage your teams to look at IABs 

2. Refining process - 

Q - When will we check back in to ensure we selected the “correct” standards?

A - We will reserve one date per cohort to come together to review and refine each school year. Coaches will gather feedback from sites quarterly

3. Curriculum:

Q - Will we get a curriculum that aligns with our selected essential standards?

A - Our current district adoptions are:

Tk Splash into PreK

K-2 Fountas and Pinnell Classroom, Benchmark Advance (ELD) 

3-6 Reach for Reading National Geographic

7-8 StudySync Reading & Writing

9-12 SpringBoard English Language Arts

We will continue to follow our district textbook adoption policy.

4. Resources: 

Q - Where can we go to find district-backed resources for ELA/ELD?

A - Please refer to the district’s instructional playbook for resources.

5. Funding to support implementation: 

Q - Will the district provide additional funds to support implementation (i.e. manipulatives, subscriptions, etc.)? 

A - Through the planning for the site spending plan SPSA, the site can determine the need for supplemental resources

6. Q - Do we have to teach everything?

A - Essential standards were selected and determined by the team to be “viable” meaning that it is feasible to do within the allotted time. Please keep notes on what worked well and what may need refinement which we will review at our check-in meeting next year.

7. Q-Why can’t we just keep doing our own individual site essential standards decisions? 

A - As a district, we're working to ensure consistent and equitable instruction for all students, regardless of which school they attend. By standardizing essential standards, we can reduce variability and provide a more consistent learning experience.
