ASB/Leadership

RSJ Leadership provides academic, practical and lifelong skills such as initiative, cooperation, public speaking, teamwork, and accounting. Students learn to plan, organize, and maintain an effective co-curricular program designed to actively involve the school/community. It promotes communication between administrators, faculty, and students. Emphasis is on individual responsibility, performance, and student input.

The Leadership Class is a semester-long service elective course to non-ASB officers open to 7^th & 8^th grade students who are highly motivated to improve their leadership skills. ASB officers must enroll in leadership for the entire year. Leadership students are held to the highest standards for work and behavior at all times . As school role models, it is expected that each student will show P.R.I.D.E. in everything they do. Student leaders are expected to be kind, caring and thoughtful.

The Leadership class is interactive. Students develop leadership skills through direct participation in the planning and implementation of a variety of student and staff activities, as well as through teacher-led discussions on topics such as; goal setting, communication, decision-making, leadership styles, time management, project planning, and ethics. Students in Leadership Class are asked to volunteer out-of-class service at least once a week.
