HMS Clubs and Organizations
Below you can browse a list of sports, clubs, organizations and intramurals that are available for Hershey Middle School students to participate in. We encourage all students to take an active role in their school. One way to do that is to explore their interests beyond the classroom by participating in the programs listed below. Each organization on the list has a faculty sponsor that students and parents can contact for additional information.
BIG Believers in the Gospel
Joy Graeff
6th, 7th, & 8th Grade
Believers in the Gospel is a student led Christian club that is supervised by two teachers. Meeting frequency changes year to year depending on the student leadership. All meetings are held after school. The kick off for the club is National Prayer at the Pole each September.
Chess Club

6th, 7th, & 8th Grade
Chess Club meets weekly after school. Students in this club compete against twelve other middle school clubs in the tri-county area.
Community Service Club

6th, 7th, 8th Grade
Community Service Club meets monthly after school. Students in this club participate in a variety of community service projects, share their experiences, reflect on their learning and develop a better understanding of community.
Future Business Leaders (FBLA)

FBLA meets monthly after school in preparation for a competition that is held in the spring of each year.
Hershey Area Mountain Bike Club

Grades 6-12
This club will create an opportunity for students, parents, community members and faculty to get involved in a growing sport within our state and region. Our team would be part of a larger state-wide organization called PA Interscholastic Cycling League.
Jazz Band

6th, 7th, & 8th Grade
Jazz Band practices weekly before school. Students participating in Jazz Band also participate in their grade level band.
Math Counts

6th, 7th, & 8th Grade
Math Counts meets weekly after school. Students practice mathematical problems in preparation for competition that takes place in April.
Media and Design Competition

6th, 7th, & 8th Grade
Media and Design Competition meets monthly and more frequently as the early spring competition arrives. Students are supported in the development of a technology project that is entered into the competition.
Middle School Play

The middle school play holds auditions following the winter break. Students are provided with opportunities to participate in the cast and crew. Students meet daily after school during the months of February and March to prepare for a school wide presentation during the school day and an evening presentation for friends and family.
MiniTHON

6th, 7th, & 8th Grade
MiniTHON meets biweekly after school from October through February to organize fundraising activities for the Four Diamonds organization.
Morning Broadcast Club

Morning Broadcast Club meets each morning to produce and deliver the televised middle school morning announcements.
Musical Theatre

Pokemon

This is for fans of the card game and the various games available on electronic devices. This is not about Pokémon Go, however. The club meets from 2:31 to 3:30pm once a month, usually the 4th Wednesday of the month. You need to hand in a completed parent permission form to be able to participate.
Productions Club

Productions Club students learn about and participate in providing lighting, sound and technical assistance in the auditorium for assemblies, concerts and productions.
Science Fair Club

Science Fair meets bi-weekly after school from the fall until spring competition each year. Students are supported to develop a science project based on a theme for the year.
Science Olympiad

Science Olympiad meets weekly after school from October until May with a few Saturday practices added to the schedule. Three levels of competition take place in the fall, winter and spring.
Student Council

Student Council meets biweekly after school. Students learn about student governance, discuss current issues effecting HMS students and work on activities geared toward improving student life.
Video Yearbook

8th Grade
Video yearbook meets every one to two weeks after school, during the second semester of the school year. Students collaborate on the creation of an online presentation of their middle school experience.
Weight and Cardio Club

The Weight and Cardio Club will provide students with the opportunity for physical activity and the many benefits that come with it.
Year Book

Yearbook meets biweekly after school. Students learn how to create a yearbook through the creation of a series of layout pages populated with photos taken throughout the school year.
