There will be written work. Some questions require you to explain your reasoning or describe your steps. You can receive partial credit on these types of questions.
Yes. Some topics taught are required to understand more complex topics. The more complex topics will be on the test. For example, solving one-step equations is reviewed in Algebra II but is not directly tested. Instead, you may be asked to solve systems of equations using methods like elimination, substitution, or graphing.
Herricks High School purchases an Algebra II Topical Review book (the green book) for each student. We will incorporate it into classwork and homework assignments. In addition to this, you may want to check out the following resources:
At the end of each unit of study, you should review all information from the unit and clarify any misconceptions in order to best prepare you for the Regents in June. If you cannot do so, it is crucial to prioritize studying for the exam at least two months prior to the date of the regent exam.
We will review in class and there will be two review sessions during regents week.
If you have any specific questions about your accommodations and the Regents exam. Please ask your math teacher(s) or your contact teacher.
The score of your Algebra II Regents is 20% of your overall Algebra II grade. It is averaged with your 1st through 4th quarter grades.
The Regents exams count towards your GPA and will be on your transcript.
If you are not pleased with your score, you can retake the exam in August or January. Your guidance counselor can provide information regarding how and when to retake the Regents Exam. The passing score on the Regents is a 65. A score of 85 or better means you have demonstrated mastery of Algebra II.
