The "quaran-teens" of Heritage Hall's Sports Media class refuse to "sit on(line) the sidelines" and instead bring you the bracket of all brackets, Vote the GOAT, to determine the greatest sports movie of all time! The best voter is an educated voter, so they've analyzed all the movies and have included the official trailer, their own synopsis, and a video pitch to try to earn your vote for their movie in each matchup. We'll start with the "First Four" play-in games and plan to open up a new round of voting each day, so stay tuned to email and social media to make your vote count...let's crown THE Greatest of All-Time!
Each poll will remain open for approximately 1 day. Voters will see a matchup of two movies, followed by an embedded Google Form; and this repeats on the page for all the matchups in that day's vote. Voters should click the submit button on EACH form as they scroll through the page; votes are not cast if submit is not clicked. Scores will be reported as numerical values based on the percentage of votes (so they always add up to 100).
The Sports Media class responded to a Google Form with over 130 sports movies listed, and each selected at least 10 (up to 32) favorites. In an effort to remove some age and recency bias while preserving some weighting for student choices, the survey scores were merged with IMDB.com ratings to achieve a hybrid ranking. Then teams were slotted into seeds (61 vs 62, 63 vs 64, 65 vs 66, 67 vs 68; then 1 vs FF4, 2 vs FF3, 3, vs FF2, 4 vs FF1, 5 vs 60, 6 vs 59, 7 vs 58, and so on).
