My Philosophy:
"Every Child is an Artist. The problem is to remain an Artist when once they grow up."
Pablo Picasso
I believe that everyone cancreate! This class is about problem solving and turning mistakes into works of art. I give scholars an art problem and expect a different answer from every student. I want scholars to try new and differentmaterials and use them in different ways. I believe that art is a skillthat you need to practice just like any other skill. If you know how to draw or paint well, that is great but then I want you to try drawing or painting in a different way. I look for scholars that are pushing themselves even when it gets hard. I expect my artist to try something new every day and hopefully find their voice and a new way to express themselves.
I have been teaching art for the past 32 years. I have taught all ages and many different mediums. I have been a working artist and have shown my work in galleries around the US. I have a passion for the Visual Arts and work on my own work any chance I can get. I have 2 incredible sons that keep me busy. I am crazy about rescuing animal and currently have a household filled with cats and dogs. I love the mountains and getting outside whenever I get the chance.
I received my Bachelor’s degree in Art Education from the University of Arizona and my Master’s Degree in Counseling from Lamar University in Texas.
