Work-Based Learning Programs (WBL) are a continuum of awareness, exploration, preparation, and training activities, including developing employability and technical skills that support success in careers and postsecondary education. Structured learning and authentic work experiences are implemented through an education and industry partnership. Students have the opportunity to connect what they learn in school with worksite application, enabling a smooth transition into work force and/or education beyond high school. Work-Based Learning activities culminate in an assessment and recognition of acquired knowledge and skills.
Requirements: • A defined career plan • Enrollment in, or completion of, a pathway related to the student’s career goal is strongly encouraged • Good attendance and discipline record • Teacher and Counselor recommendation • Reliable transportation and proof of insurance
About me
Hi, I'm Melissa Roberts! I've been teaching since 1988 and have had the joy of working with students in New Orleans, Tampa, and now Hampton. I graduated from Auburn University (War Eagle!) and later earned my master’s degree in Instructional Technology from Troy University.
I’ve been married to my wonderful husband, Paul, for 42 years. We have five amazing kids and four beautiful grandchildren who keep life exciting and full of love.
Since 2015, I’ve been teaching Work-Based Learning, and I absolutely love it. Helping students figure out what they’re passionate about and connecting them to jobs or internships that match their interests is the best part of my day. I’m here to support and guide them every step of the way!
