I believe that education should be accessible, applicable, and engaging. Accessible means that it should be available and offered to all children. In addition, it should be applicable by connecting to the needs and everyday life of individual people. For example, it should include reading skills, foundational math skills, science skills (the world around us), and historical knowledge. I desire students to be able to go out into their chosen careers or trades with the building blocks required to be successful and fulfilled. Finally, education is most effective when it is engaging. In order to engage all students, we should be aware of their backgrounds, hobbies, and interests. As a teacher, I strive to listen to my students and be attentive to their individual thoughts and interests as I educate them according to their personal needs.
