Hello everyone, and welcome to our exciting year ahead!
I am Mary Rivera—originally from Connecticut, and now proud to call Georgia my home. I bring 37 years of experience as an Early Intervention Specialist, teaching students from kindergarten through 12th grade, including college-level courses. My background spans general education, special education, gifted education, with deep expertise as both a reading specialist and a math interventionist.
🌟 A Bit About Me
I relocated from Connecticut to Georgia, and I am thrilled to be part of this school community.
This year I will be working with 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade students—helping your child grow their literacy, math, and overall learning skills.
I hold Georgia certification and endorsements that support early intervention across reading and mathematics, enabling me to assist students to meet grade-level expectations.
What You Can Expect This School Year
A student-centered classroom where individual strengths and learning styles are valued and nurtured.
Instruction aligned with Georgia’s Early Intervention Program (EIP)—a state‑funded initiative serving K–5 students at risk academically in reading and/or mathematics. EIP uses targeted, evidence-based interventions, frequent progress monitoring, and clear criteria for entering and exiting support.
Implementation of research-based practices in reading (aligned with Georgia’s Science of Reading) and structured math intervention, supporting students who are below grade level to reach proficiency as swiftly as possible.
Here’s How We Will Work Together
Individualized support and differentiation: Lessons and interventions in both literacy and math, tailored to meet each student where they are.
Evidence-based instruction: Small group or one-on-one support in reading, writing, and math as needed.
Frequent progress checks: Regular assessments so we can celebrate growth and refine instruction in both literacy and math.
Integrated learning experiences: Collaborative activities connecting ELA, math, science, and social studies, fostering both reading and numeracy skills.
Family involvement: I will communicate regularly to share strategies to support reading and math at home—equipping families with tools to reinforce learning beyond the classroom.
I am genuinely excited to teach third through fifth graders this year—helping each student build confidence, capability, and a love for learning in both reading and math. Together, we will make this year a journey of growth, exploration, and meaningful achievements.
Here is to a successful and inspiring school year!
Warm regards,
Mrs. Mary Rivera
