During our meetings we will discuss and have demonstrations on how to complete the different art challenges

Art Challenge #1: Painting with coffee

Here are two videos to help you along the way. Mrs. Park will also do some demonstrations in our first meeting.

Art Challenge #2: Photo & Drawing/Painting

  • Choose a photo from a magazine or printed from online of a face

  • Cut out the photo so that the hair and background are no longer attached

  • glue to your paper

  • paint, draw and collage your hair and background using lots of line and detail.

  • Be sure to photograph your art and post it in Google Classroom

Art Challenge #3: Imitation Art

  • Recreate a famous artwork. You can find artists and works HERE if you need help choosing an artwork

  • Use items you can find around your home or make items using paper, cardboard and paint, anything you can find really to make your photo awesome!

  • Think about your background and lighting for your photo

  • Make sure you have filled out and sent in your photo release form so I can post your image

  • Be sure to post your photo and an image of the artwork you copied in Google Classroom

Art Challenge #4: Realistic Eye

  • Follow along with the video

  • Use drawing pencils for this piece

  • Draw large! Don't make a tiny drawing!

  • Be sure to photograph your art and post it in Google Classroom

Art Challenge #6: Digital Mosaic

  • Create your own digital mosaic following the instructions on the video

  • You can choose any subject matter you like and you can try the more advanced techniques if you desire.

  • Be sure to post your artwork in Google Classroom

Art Challenge #7: Potato Block Printing

  • Cut your potato in half

  • Carve your potato stamp

  • Apply Paint to your potato stamp

  • Press your stamp onto your paper to create patterns and designs

  • Be sure to photograph your art and post it in Google Classroom

Art Challenge #8: Earthwork

  • Create your own earthwork (an artwork made from nature) based on the work by Andy Goldsworthy

  • Use items you can find in your yard and be creative!

  • Be sure to photograph your art and post it in Google Classroom

Art Challenge #9: Cardboard Sculpture

  • Watch the video to learn some techniques for creating cardboard sculptures

  • you can use liquid glue or hot glue to attach your different pieces

  • Be sure to have lots of details and varieties of textures

  • You can choose any subject matter you desire. it can be realistic or abstract

  • When photographing your artwork you might want to take it outside or put it against a wall that has a solid color background and good lighting.

  • Be sure to photograph your art and post it in Google Classroom

Look at the video of the art by James Lake. He works entirely in cardboard!!

Art Challenge #10: Coil Paper Bowl

  • Cut magazine or construction paper into strips of different widths.

  • Begin rolling up your strips into circular coils and glue them along the way.

  • Blow up a balloon to the size that you want your bowl

  • Use liquid glue and begin gluing your coils to the top of the balloon and add glue in-between each coil to attach them to one another.

  • Fill in any gaps with glue

  • Once it is all dry pop your balloon and your done!!

  • When photographing your artwork you might want to take it outside or put it against a wall that has a solid color background and good lighting.

  • Be sure to photograph your art and post it in Google Classroom
