Ola Physical Education

MEET THE COACHES AT OPEN HOUSE CLICK HERE.

It is such a pleasure to welcome all the wonderful students back to school this year virtually. Coach Rico and Coach Andrews look forward to getting to know your children and having them in PE this year. Each class will have 45 minutes of PE per week in Grades K-5.

The goal of Physical Education at Ola Elementary is to teach students to develop healthy living habits that will last a lifetime. We accomplish that by having students participate in a wide variety of activities, sports, and challenges that will increase their physical, social, and mental abilities, as well as teamwork and cooperation skills. We hope to provide a virtually safe, fun, and motivating class that will encourage all students to want to participate, have fun and try their best.

Here are some things that will help make virtual PE as fun and SAFE as possible this year:

1. Wear sneakers for safety on their PE days!!!

2. Always do physical activity in an open and safe space.

3. If a student has a medical condition or injury, please use caution when doing physical activity and follow doctors orders.

4. Have fun and get moving!

Meet Coach Rico

This year will mark Coach Rico’s 2nd year teaching Physical Education and his second year at the great Ola Elementary School. As a former collegiate baseball player, Rico fits in well the mentality of being a good leader, role model, and team player. Coach Rico has also had the luxury of coaching 2 Major League Baseball players within his travel baseball organization, BigStix Baseball. Matt Olson, Oakland A’s and Kyle Lewis, Seattle Mariners are the two current big leaguers that he has coached. In addition to those players, he has coached over 200 players in college or professional baseball. Also, he is the assistant varsity baseball coach at Ola High School.

We Are Ola!!!!

Meet Coach Andrews

My name is Neanda Andrews and I am thrilled to be joining the Ola Elementary staff as a Physical Education teacher for the 2020/21 school year. I graduated from Washburn University, with a BS in Psychology and completed my Master's Degree in Education, from Capella University. I was employed as a social worker for 15 years before entering the field of education. I will begin my 5th year as an educator this year and prior to Physical Education I spent three years teaching Middle Grades ELA.

My hobbies include exercising, reading, spending time with my family and I enjoy coaching and supporting my girls in their sports. I am married to Antonio Andrews, Head Football Coach of Woodland High School and we have four wonderful daughters, Nia, Nya, N’dia and Nayvi.

As a teacher, my goals and mission are to promote a positive learning environment, increase a passion for learning health and fitness, and encourage lifelong learning. If I can make a difference in just one child's life in my years as an educator, I will have succeeded

Go Colts!
