Supervised Agricultural Experience (SAE) is a student-led, instructor supervised, work-based learning experience that results in measurable outcomes within a predefined, agreed upon set of Agriculture, Food and Natural Resources (AFNR) Technical Standards and Career Ready Practices aligned to a career plan of study.
Student SAE Requirements
To meet course expectations, the student agrees to:
Complete a minimum of 30 hours of work related to their SAE project during the school year.
Document all hours and project activities using the online system at www.theaet.com .
Submit a minimum of 10 photographs that:
Show the student actively engaged in their SAE.
Clearly demonstrate the progression of their project over time.
Ensure their SAE project aligns with one of the recognized SAE types (Foundational, Placement, Entrepreneurship, Research, or School-Based Enterprise).
Submit all required SAE components by assigned due dates provided by the teacher.
Grading and Importance
The SAE Project constitutes 20% of the final grade in the course.
Partial or incomplete submissions (missing hours, insufficient photos, or lack of AET logs) may significantly affect the student’s final grade.
Failure to complete the SAE project may result in a failing grade for this portion of the course.
Responsibilities
Student Will:
Take initiative in planning, executing, and documenting their SAE project.

Submit photos and documentation by due dates.
Ask for help when needed.
Parent/Guardian Will:
Support the student in completing their SAE, including providing transportation, materials, or guidance as needed.
Encourage responsibility and communication about deadlines and requirements.
Contact the teacher with any questions or concerns about the project.
Teacher Will:
Provide guidance, resources, and support throughout the SAE process.
Monitor student progress and provide regular feedback.
Grade each component fairly and communicate with students/guardians about progress.
