The Henry County Board of Education’s Board Policy IHF(6) outlines graduation requirements for students who entered ninth grade beginning in the 2008–2009 school year and for subsequent years. This policy ensures that all students receive a rigorous, well-rounded education while preparing them for college, career, and life success .
English/Language Arts: 4 Units (including American Literature/Composition and 9th Grade Literature/Composition)
Mathematics: 4 Units (including Algebra, Geometry, and Advanced Algebra or equivalents)
Science: 4 Units (including Biology, Physical Science/Physics, Chemistry/Earth Systems/Environmental Science, plus one additional unit; 4th science may count as elective)
Social Studies: 3 Units (U.S. History, World History, American Government/Civics, and Economics)
CTAE/Modern Language/Latin/Fine Arts: 3 Units (students encouraged to complete a focused CTAE pathway; 2 units of the same World Language recommended for university admission)
Health & Physical Education: 1 Unit (may be satisfied by 3 JROTC credits if approved)
Electives: 4 Units
Total Minimum Units Required: 23
Course Credit: Only awarded for state-approved high school-level courses aligned to Georgia Performance Standards (GPS/CCGPS).
Diploma Options: Includes regular High School Diploma, High School Certificate, and Special Education Diploma.
Students with Disabilities: Alternate diploma pathways are available for students with significant cognitive disabilities, based on Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
Support Services: Continuous guidance, advisement, progress monitoring, and remedial opportunities are provided to help students meet requirements.

Core Credits (15 total): 4 English, 4 Math, 4 Science, 3 Social Studies
Fine Arts/CTAE: 3 Credits
Electives: 2 Credits
World Languages/ASL or Computer Science: 2 Credits (must be in the same language or Computer Science)
Health/PE: 1 Credit (may be fulfilled with ROTC I, II, or III)
Community Service: 0.5 Credit
