Overview
Welcome to 8th Grade ELA! This year, students will explore a variety of engaging literature, develop strong writing skills, and sharpen their reading and critical thinking abilities. Our focus will be on building confidence in communication through reading, writing, speaking, and listening.
What We’ll Cover:
Reading: We’ll dive into classic and contemporary novels, short stories, poetry, and informational texts. Students will learn to analyze themes, characters, and literary devices.
Writing: Students will practice narrative, persuasive, and expository writing. Emphasis will be placed on organizing ideas, using evidence, and revising drafts for clarity and style.
Vocabulary & Grammar: We’ll enhance vocabulary through context and word study, and review grammar concepts to improve writing accuracy.
Speaking & Listening: Students will participate in discussions, presentations, and collaborative projects to build strong communication skills.
About me
This is my tenth year as an Educator - Math and ELA. I've also coached Track and Field & Cheerleading for over 5 years. I'm from Chicago, Illinois, but have lived in Georgia for over 15 years. I am also an Army Veteran.
