This lesson will take place on campus during your assigned class period. Attendance is required.
Any students who are absent the day of the lab need to make transportation arrangments to do the lab on the next Wednesday cafe day from 1:30 to 3:00 pm
Learning Targets:
I can define and explain the differences between speed, velocity, and acceleration and mathematically solve for each using word problems. (Knowledge)
I can identify and use appropriate SI units when performing calculations of speed, velocity and acceleration. (Knowledge)
I can plan and carry out an investigation to analyze the motion of an object using mathematical and graphical representations. (Skill)
Standards:
SPS8: Obtain, evaluate, and communicate information to explain the relationships among force, mass, and motion.
a. Plan and carry out an investigation to analyze the motion of an object using mathematical and graphical models. (Mathematical and graphical models could include distance, displacement, speed, velocity, time, and acceleration.)
Agenda:
Opening- Read through lab protocol and generate questions
Secure the Foundation- Review motion concepts learned so far that are relevant to lab
Explanation of Lab Activity and Division of Groups
Speed Challenge Lab
Closing- Complete Post-Lab Analysis Questions
