Daily Standard
SC2 Obtain, evaluate, and communicate information about the chemical and physical properties of matter resulting from the ability of atoms to form bonds.
SC2.a Plan and carry out an investigation to gather evidence to compare the physical and chemical properties at the macroscopic scale to infer the strength of intermolecular and intramolecular forces.
SC2.b Construct an argument by applying principles of inter- and intra-molecular forces to identify substances based on chemical and physical properties
Daily Learning Target
I can arrange the major intermolecular forces between molecules in terms of their strength. [electrostatic forces, hydrogen bonding, dipole-dipole, and London dispersion forces]
I can use physical or chemical properties to identify the intermolecular forces present in a substance.
I can explain the relationship between the intermolecular forces present within a substance and the temperatures associated with changes in its physical state.
I can construct an argument about the physical or chemical properties of a substances based on their inter- and/or intra- molecular forces present.
Describe each of the three intramolecular forces. If you are drawing a blank revist the suplimenttal video on the last wet lab (linked to the right0

You will complete two separate activities today.
The first activity is a google form where you will identify if the description is of physical property or chemical property. Google form direct link
The second activity is a two-part google document where you first identify if the change is physical or chemical. Then select 10 of the changes and specify the intermolecular and/or intramolecular force being affected by the change. Link to google classroom in the buttons below.
Take HCS_22-23_Chemistry_Week 16 over bonding and Lewis structures. You will want the real periodic table opened before starting the test.
