Daily Standard
SC1.f Use the periodic table as a model to predict the relative properties of elements based on the patterns of electrons in the outermost energy level of atoms (i.e. including atomic radii, ionization energy, and electronegativity)
Daily Learning Target
I can graph data about the first 20 elements.
I can analyze those graphs and deduce patterns in ionic/atomic radius, atomic mass, boiling/melting point (Reasoning)
Agenda:
Opening- Read through lab protocol and generate questions
Secure the Foundation- Show students an example of graphed data for melting point
Explanation of Lab Activity and Division of Groups
Students work in groups to complete their graphs.
Closing- Complete Post-Lab Analysis Questions
This lesson will take place on campus during your assigned class period. Attendance is required.
Any students who are absent the day of the lab need to make transportation arrangements to do the lab the next Wednesday cafe day from 1:30 to 3:00 pm.
Periodic Trends Graphing Activity A short video showing how to make a graph using google sheets. Then how to download it as a PDF and use KAMI to add extra information to the graph/document.
