Austin Road Elementary
Mental Health & Wellness Center
Hello Jaguars,
Welcome to Austin Road Elementary! My name is Tia McEachin, and I am the Mental Health and Wellness Facilitator. My role here at Austin Road is to assist in the development of a comprehensive mental health and wellness program designed to support the physical, social, emotional, and mental development of students, particularly as it relates to reintegration of students into the learning environment. In alignment with Henry County Public School’s Strategic Plan, my role is to help advance students' and staff health and wellness, while also supporting structures in schools.
This includes:
Establishing and leading school-based teams to address the social, emotional, physical, and mental health of all students and staff.
Train, coach, and support school-level staff in the design, implementation, and evaluation of school and classroom mental health and wellness framework initiatives.
Provide behavioral health support and engage in prevention and intervention activities.
Assess students' social and emotional development and risk of harm to others and initiate suicide assessments in consultation with designated staff when necessary.
Monitor student progress, adapt support as needed, and maintain documentation pertinent to academic, social, and emotional progress and needs of students.
Collaborate with teachers, school leadership, and staff to assess, refer, or intervene with students and provide consultation.
Assist with crisis events and recovery processes.
I am so excited to be working with ALL of our scholars and I wish the best of luck to everyone during the new school year!
Best Regards,
Tia McEachin
