Graduating Early

LGHS is on a block schedule which enables students to earn 8 credits a year. Since students need 23 required credits to graduate, students have the opportunity to graduate in less than 4 years.

If you are interested, contact your counselor and discuss options for your schedule.

What are electives?

"Electives provide an opportunity for students to pursue more specialized interests outside the core and explore a variety of different academic pursuits. For instance, students may be able to further pursue the arts by taking an elective course in photography, band, or drama. Similarly, a student may be able to explore their passion for writing from a different angle by enrolling in a journalism or creative writing class. Electives are a way to either try something completely new, or to further develop an interest." (From CollegeVine, A Guide to Choosing Electives in High School)

CTAE (Career Technology Agriculture Education) classes are electives that students can take to pursue a field of study. There are 4 levels/courses in each pathway.

Some electives are related to PE (Team Sports, Weight Training), support (Algebra, Geometry), or academics (World Geography, Psychology).

You need 3 electives in CTAE/Fine Arts/World Languages (any combination) and 4 additional electives. Think about what you are REALLY interested in when you choose your elective classes - you get to choose them so choose what YOU like!
