Hello! My name is Retta "Rita" Smith, and this is my third year serving as a College & Career Readiness Coach (CCRC), formerly known as Graduation Coach, here at Impact Academy. I absolutely love this role—helping students stay on track and achieve their goal of walking across the stage prepared for their next steps.
I have been in education for 12 years. I earned my Bachelor’s degree in Middle Grades Education from Clayton State University and my Master’s degree in Instructional Technology with a P-12 School Library Media certification from Valdosta State University. Over the years, I have taught math, science, reading intervention, and preschool, and I have also served as a middle school instructional coach.
As a College & Career Readiness Coach, I:
Work with students in grades 9–12 to help them stay on track for graduation.
Coordinate and facilitate online courses through Credit Recovery, Georgia Virtual School, and Henry County Online.
Organize Grade Repair programs.
Coordinate tutoring schedules and EOC (End-of-Course) support opportunities.
Collaborate with our testing coordinator on EOC administration.
My Commitment:
I am dedicated to fostering a supportive and collaborative environment where students feel encouraged, motivated, and prepared for the future. Through regular check-ins and progress monitoring, I ensure that every scholar stays focused, engaged, and on the path to success—whether that path leads to college, career, or both.
