Welcome to American Government, Economics, & AP Psychology!

Hello and welcome! I’m excited to have you in class this semester as we take a deep dive into two of the most important subjects you’ll study in high school: American Government and Economics.

In American Government, we’ll explore the foundations of our democratic system, from the Constitution and the Bill of Rights to the structure of federal, state, and local governments. You'll gain a deeper understanding of how power is distributed, how laws are made, and how citizens like you can shape public policy through civic engagement.

In Economics, we’ll examine how choices are made by individuals, businesses, and governments in a world of limited resources. We'll discuss key concepts like supply and demand, markets, personal finance, and the role of government in the economy. You'll leave this course better equipped to make informed decisions about money, careers, and the global economy.

Why does this matter? Because these two courses aren’t just boxes to check for graduation, they’re essential to becoming an informed, empowered, and responsible citizen. Whether you're voting, managing your finances, or considering your role in your community, the lessons you’ll learn here will serve you for a lifetime.

AP Psychology is a course designed to introduce you to the scientific study of human behavior and mental processes. Throughout the year, you will explore how people think, learn, develop, interact, and respond to the world around them by examining major psychological theories, research, and real-world applications. As an Advanced Placement course, AP Psychology is rigorous and fast-paced, requiring critical thinking, active participation, and consistent study habits. Through engaging discussions, essay-writing, experiments, case studies, and analysis of psychological research elementary statistics, you will develop a deeper understanding of yourself and others while building the skills necessary to succeed on the AP Exam and in future college coursework. Get ready to challenge your thinking, ask meaningful questions, and discover the fascinating science behind why we do what we do.
