I teach six courses at the Henry County Academy for Advanced Studies as part of the Automotive Technologies pathway. These courses are designed to prepare students for careers in the automotive industry through hands-on learning, technical instruction, and industry certification opportunities.

Automotive Technologies 1
This introductory course provides students with foundational knowledge of automotive systems, safety protocols, and basic maintenance procedures. Students learn to identify vehicle components, use hand tools, and perform routine services such as oil changes and tire rotations. Emphasis is placed on workplace readiness and industry standards.

Automotive Technologies 2
Building on the basics, this course introduces students to engine performance, electrical systems, and diagnostic tools. Students gain hands-on experience with multimeters, scan tools, and basic troubleshooting techniques. Safety and professionalism continue to be emphasized.

Automotive Technologies 3
Course Description:
Students dive deeper into engine repair, brake systems, and steering/suspension. This course includes lab-based instruction and real-world simulations. Learners begin to understand manufacturer specifications and service procedures, preparing them for more advanced diagnostics.

Automotive Technologies 4
This advanced course focuses on drivetrain systems, HVAC, and advanced electrical diagnostics. Students work with modern vehicles and learn to interpret wiring diagrams, service climate control systems, and understand transmission fundamentals.

Automotive Technologies 5
Students refine their skills in diagnostics, repair planning, and customer service. Emphasis is placed on ASE certification preparation, service writing, and shop management principles. Learners begin to take leadership roles in the lab environment.

Automotive Technologies 6
This capstone course allows students to demonstrate mastery through project-based learning, internships, and industry certifications. Students may specialize in areas such as alignment, hybrid systems, or advanced diagnostics. Career readiness and post-secondary planning are key components.
