Students will be expected to be passing all classes (including Connections) during the Second Semester to participate in all End of the Year Events. Grades will be checked at the end of the 3rd 9 Weeks, 4.5 mark of the 4th 9 Weeks and prior to each event. Teachers will ensure to have clear communication with families regarding grades & progress. Students must be passing classes with a 70% or higher using their "In Progress" grade prior to each event. The only exception to this expectation is the 8th Grade Walkover (8th graders will take a final ceremonial walk around LGMS. Then, we will walk to the high school for a ceremony). All 8th graders will participate in the Walkover.
Students are expected to follow all LGMS Wildcat behavior expectations during all EOY celebrations. In order to participate in the End of Year events, students must demonstrate a willingness to follow school rules and procedures. Students will not be allowed to attend the Semi-Formal Dance if they have more than two Level 1 referrals. A Level 2 or higher referral is also prohibited. This expectation applies between the dates of March 16th-May 15th. (Please remember that 4 steps equals a Level 1 referral.) Per Henry County Schools policy, students must be counted present at school to attend the Semi-Formal Dance (see pg. 10). We are looking forward to celebrating our 8th grade students and their achievements!
