The Center for Environmental Studies and Sustainability will provide students with a unique opportunity to expand their understanding of environmental stewardship and sustainable energy through student-centered learning, community partnerships and foundational academic knowledge and practices that will prepare students to be life-ready while providing a learning environment that is unparalleled. The Center for Environmental Studies and Sustainability at Varina provides students with an environmentally and historically rich location which will provide an opportunity for experiential and place-based learning.

Students interested in an integrated approach to environmental science and sustainability, enjoy outdoor, field-based, hands-on learning experiences are encouraged to apply. The Center seeks learners from all backgrounds and experiences to join our inclusive learning environment where authentic and relevant learning occurs.

Students graduating from the Center for Environmental Studies and Sustainability will be able to provide the leadership to tackle the future of environmental challenges from an integrated perspective consisting of scientific, social, political and historical facets.
