Writing

The flock wrote their rough draft on "how we "blew the SOLs away". (In return, the got to make and blow bubbles all afternoon.) We practiced brainstorming, organizing and editing our work. Next week, room 311 will write their final copy that will be saved in their portfolio at the school. I am so proud of the flock and their hard work today in writing. (05.31.19)

The flock had to take it upon themselves to create, write and teach their own lesson to their fellow flamingos. Each flamingo is graded on their lesson plan and reflection plus classroom management skills, time management and delivery of lesson. The flamingos have taught room311 about their passions and desires. We will continue to teach and learn next week. (05.24.19)

Room 311 writes EVERY DAY! Students are practicing their narratives and writing with a purpose during stations. As the flock edits their papers, they are learning spelling, grammar and so much more. Along with reading, have your student write about their day, a made up story or recipes to practice all aspects. (11/27/2018)

During PIE time, the flock were asked to build one thing they were thankful for (they had to be creative based on their particular block selection) and then wrote a short paragraph telling me about their creation. My favorite "I am thankful for Mrs. Peoples in a flying car." Maybe one day! (11/20/2018)

Students in room 311 continue to write- daily. As we work on our writing skills, we incorporate grammar (like verbs, capitalization, etc.) and take their knowledge and put into stories and research papers. The flock is learning that a final copy takes several drafts (which most do not enjoy) but as our process gets smoother, the writing will continue to get better and shine! (11/06/18)

During the first month of school, the students have been practicing being a good writer by writing friendly letters to service men/women, friends in third grade and will continue with a letter for a special guardian. I am excited to find special pen-pals for students over the year!
