Hello,
I am excited to be your child's teacher this year! Several of you had me last year and I am thrilled to have you in class again! For those new to my class I am excited to get to know you and build a community of learners! 4th grade will be new to ALL of us this year and I thank you in advance for you patience as I navigate this new, rigorous, and fun curriculum. Although I know I have my work cut out for me, I am committed to making your child's 4th grade year one to remember!
Here is a little information about myself. I am a product of HCPS. I grew up in Richmond and attended Pemberton Elementary, Byrd (Quioccasin) Middle and Godwin High School. After high school I attended the University of Richmond and majored in Sociology and Elementary Education.
I am about to begin my 24th year as an HCPS teacher. I taught for 11 years at Trevvett Elementary School. In 2015 I made the move to Springfield Park. Over the last 23 years I have taught both 2nd and 3rd grades but never 4th so I have a lot to learn.
In 2018 I pursued my National Board Certification and in December 2019, I received the wonderful news that I achieved certification! Achieving NBCT certification is considered education's highest honor. It was a year of hard work, reflection, and reworking all my lessons to best meet the needs of my students! Last year I completed my MOC (Maintenance of Certification) to extend my NBCT certificate and await those results in December.
In 2020 when the world stopped I had a lot of time to think and reflect. I decided it was a good time to work towards my Gifted Endorsement and was able to achieve this in June 2021.
I am also the proud parent of Reece (10th grader) at Glen Allen High School, Charlie (7th grader) at Holman Middle School and Cooper (5th grader) at SPES. My husband Eric is a PE teacher at Godwin High School and works with my mom.
In my free time I run and spend time with my family. They keep me busy with their sport schedules, but I know these days are short so I try to enjoy them!
