Hello. I am glad you are here because, most likely, you are the parent of a child in my class. I'm happy to be able to tell you a little bit about how I came to be your child's teacher.
Although I have always believed strongly in the value of education, I did not start my adult life as a teacher. Instead, I earned degrees in French and Mass Communications and then embarked upon successful careers in banking customer service and videography. Lucky enough to have been exposed to people of great intellect as well as goodness and insight, I used those years and many travel experiences, as well as the birth and care of my now-fifteen-year-old son, to hone my ability to understand human nature and the needs of children. Finally, I felt prepared to take on the incredible honor and responsibility of being a teacher.
My teaching career began with pedagogical training at a local Waldorf school where I spent several years assisting and subbing in Pre-K through 8th grade classes, and ultimately serving as their First Grade teacher. In 2016, I returned to VCU for my Master of Teaching degree in Early Elementary Education so I could tie my knowledge, background, and experiences to solid training and current research and bring my skills into the public school realm as the best possible teacher for all of my students.
My first two years at Nuckols Farm were wonderful. I look forward to another happy and productive year full of growth and learning here at Nuckols Farm Elementary.
