SAT Prep

The day your counselor warned you about has come and its time to start making some decisions about what your next steps in life will be. Throughout the year, there will be various tasks that will need to be completed by those seniors interested in attending a 4-year college or university; to include but limited too, completing college applications, entrance exams, personal essays, and financial aid. Those of you applying to a 4-year college or university will need to take the SAT and/or ACT by the December test date.

This year we are looking forward to providing students with an opportunity to hold SAT Prep Sessions. Prep sessions will be held on Tuesdays from 5 -6PM. at Highland Springs High School; starting on Tuesday, September 17, 2019. Students must attend a minimum of 5 sessions, however 10 sessions are recommended. SAT Prep Sessions will require a $150 deposit to hold you seat and payment plans for the remaining balance can be arranged. Seats are limited and will be filled based on those who make payment first. If you are interested in signing up, please complete the SAT Prep Interest Form.

SAT/ACT Registration

SAT and ACT registration deadlines are very important for all seniors. University admissions require at least one set of SAT and/or ACT scores as an integral piece of the freshman application. Seniors should work with their parents to sign up for the tests and review payment costs. If a student is eligible for free & reduced lunch at school, two fee waivers for each test are available. Please see your counselor to see if you may qualify for a fee waivers. Seniors are strongly encouraged to visit the following websites for registration information and deadlines.

College Visits

Throughout the Fall, College Admissions Representatives will visit Highland Springs High School to meet with students in small group settings. This is an opportunity for students to meet face to face with an Admissions Rep and ask specific questions, express interest, in some cases receive early admission decisions, and simply gain exposure to a variety of post-secondary institutions. Our first two visits of the academic school year will be held on September 20th and September 24th. Representatives from Bridgewater and Christopher Newport will available to discuss the application process, financial aid, housing and much more! Please access the College Visit Sign Up Sheets on the School Counseling Webpage. Sign Up’s will end at noon the business day prior to the scheduled Campus Visit.

Convocation

Convocation will be held on October 16th. Males are expected to wear white button up shirts with a tie and black bottoms with black shoes; females are expected to wear a black dress or black bottoms with a white top and black shoes.
