1st Runner Up: ParaPara

With ParaPara (click the yellow gear in the bottom right corner) you have fewer options than ABCYa! Animate, but it's great for creating a quick animation. See some 3rd grade simple machine animations here.

2nd Runner Up: SketchToy

SketchToy lets you draw a picture, then it replays your drawing. The students love that you can add vibration to the lines. It's perfect for demonstrating steps in a process. See some student math examples here.

Useful Animation Tools

You and your students can create your own animated GIFs by simply uploading a series of images to Gickr or EZGifMaker. See some student examples here. We used Pixie for the artwork, but you could use StoryboardThat or ABCYa! Paint.

Honorable Mentions

We used to love ABCYa! Talkify and Blabberize for creating "talking head" animations, but recently they've been having some problems. You still might want to try them out.
