To be used during Week 4 (4/6 - 4/12)
4/6: I have posted another section of the review book on Electric Current and Ohm's Law. Expect some notes to be posted soon on sources of electric potential and on electric current & Ohm's Law. Later I will post more notes on resistance & resistivity. Remember I will have Office Hours every Tuesday and Friday, 9 - 11 am.
4/7: No Regents exams this year, I guess. Tomorrow I will ask for the answers to #29-37 from the Electric Current and Ohm's Law packet. I will want the answers to #38-48 on Monday, which have more to do with resistance of wires. Office Hours today form 9 - 11 am.
4/8: Today I would like the answers to #29-37 of the Electric Current and Ohm's Law packet. I will ask for the rest on Monday. Office Hours on Friday even though it might be Good.
4/9: Continue working on resistance of wires so that Monday you can send your answers. Tomorrow I will have Office Hours for Physics from 9 - 11 am. Next week we start circuits.
4/10: Office Hours for Physics today 9 - 11 am. Monday I will ask for #38-48 from the Electric Current and Ohm's Law packet. Please don't send answers early as I try to save everyone's responses together. Eventually I will be grading your work, so I have been archiving all of the emails I receive (and don't receive) from all of you. I'm sure 3rd quarter grades will be due soon.
To be used during Weeks 5 & 6 (4/13 - 4/26)
4/13: Today I am going to ask for the answers to #38-48 from the Electric Current and Ohm's Law packet. I have posted yet another section of the review book, this one on Electric Circuits. First, however, I suggest you read my notes on simple circuits and power, posted below. Tomorrow is Tuesday, which means more Office Hours for Physics from 9 - 11 am.
4/14: Office Hours today from 9 - 11 am. Thursday I will ask for the answers to #64-71 from Electric Circuits. Today, tell me why I shouldn't screw a 150 W light bulb into a 60 W socket. Oh, after circuits, let's have a test (take-home, of course!).
4/15: Today I want you to tell me what has to happen to the outlet voltage to be able to charge your phone's battery. Tomorrow I will want answers to #64-71 from Electric Circuits. Friday, of course, will be Office Hours from 9 - 11 am. For those planning ahead, next will be #49, 53-55, 95-99 on series circuits on Monday.
4/16: Send me your answers to #64-71 today. Tomorrow I will be having more Office Hours for Physics from 9 - 11 am. Monday I will ask for some Series circuit answers to #49, 53-55, 95-99. I have posted more notes and some videos on series circuits.
4/17: Office Hours this morning from 9 - 11 am. On Monday I will ask for answers to #49, 53-55, 95-99. Today I want you to tell me why I am safer in a car during a thunderstorm than I am outside of it. This is the end of the 3rd quarter.
4/20: Today is the start of the 4th quarter. Let's get off to a good start by sending me, by 2:00 pm, your answers to #49, 53-55 and 95-99. Thursday I will ask for the answers to some parallel circuit problems #50, 56-58, 76-85. I have posted notes on parallel circuits and some videos. Tomorrow I will have Office Hours for Physics from 9 - 11 am.
4/21: Send me the solution and explanation for problem #62 today. Also, Office Hours today from 9 - 11 am. Thursday I will ask for answers to #50, 56-58 and 76-85. Friday we look at magnetism for a day or two before moving on to waves.
4/22: I asked you to calculate the power dissipated by one of the resistors in a sample problem in the review book. Tomorrow I will ask for answers to #50, 56-58 and 76-85.
4/23: As I have been saying, today I'd like answers to #50, 56-58 and 76-85 from the Electric Circuits section of the review book. Tomorrow I will be hosting my 9th session of Office Hours for Physics from 9 - 11 am. I will post some material on magnetism tomorrow as well.
4/24: Today I posted the review book sections on Magnetism. Please start looking it over, it is not very long. Later today I will add some notes and post the solutions to the circuit problems. I will ask for answers to problems #100-109 on Tuesday. Today I have Office Hours for Physics from 9 - 11 am. See you then.
To be used during Week 6 and 7 (4/24 - 4/28)
