Dr. Barcomb will be posting Review Book excerpts, his personal notes, problems and their solutions on this site. Check back frequently for updates and discover the wonders of electricity and magnetism!
The plan is as follows: Dr. Barcomb will email you all every morning at the beginning of the school day at your student account with instructions. By 2:00 pm you will have to email him back (at francois.barcomb@henhudschools.org) with the assigned information. The assignments will also be mirrored here as a backup. This site should be open to all browsers so your parents and guardians can see what is being assigned as well.
These might come in handy. Too bad we didn't get to open them together.
3/18: You will simply email Dr. Barcomb to confirm that a) you received his email and b) you were able to find his Google site. You will also begin work on the Part A problems in the Work and Energy Review packet. Tomorrow you will be asked to send some of the answers.
3/19: Email your answers to the eight selected problems from Part A of the Work and Energy Review packet and begin working on Part B. Tomorrow you will be asked to send some of the answers.
3/20: Email your answers to the six selected problems from Part B of the Work and Energy Review packet and begin working on Part C. Monday you will be asked to send some of the answers. Also, I have posted the answers to Part A below.
3/21: I have posted the answers to Part B below. I will email each of you today to recap the week. Keep working on Part C. We will begin to look at electricity and magnetism on Monday.
To be used during Week 2 (3/23 - 3/29)
3/23: Email your answers to selected Part C problems from the Work and Energy Review packet. Start reading Electric Charge and Force. Tomorrow you will be asked to send me some thoughts about the reading.
3/24: I have now posted the answers (and solutions/justifications) to the entire Work and Energy Review packet. You should go back and check your answers against the solution and if you still are unsure, send me your questions in today's email. Additionally, I will be asking you questions about the Electric Charge and Force reading.
3/25: Below, I posted some of my thoughts on electric charge and the concept of the elementary charge. This will have to be in place of the notes I would normally write on the board for you. Tomorrow I will add some for the transfer of charge and electric force. Start working on the problems #1-17 at the end of the Electric Charge and Force book excerpt above. Watch some videos from Derek Owens that I have linked below!
3/26: As promised, more of my notes have been posted for Electric Force and Transfer of charge. More videos on these topics have been linked below. Tomorrow, against my better judgement, I will try to have office hours through Google Meet between 9 - 11 am. They are completely voluntary and only open to my students. I will send an invitation later today. Today I will be asking for some answers to easy questions, tomorrow they get a tiny bit harder.
3/27: Today, email me the answers to #4 - 11 from the packet. Monday I will be asking for the rest (#12 - 17). Today I talked with two of you during my Google Meet. Maybe next time? Next week we start looking at Electric Fields and Lines.
To be used during Week 3 (3/30 - 4/5)
3/30: Today, I will ask you to send me your answers to questions #12-17 from the Electric Charge and Force packet. Please start reading the Electric Field packet posted above. I will also be hosting one of my highly successful Office Hours sessions tomorrow from 9 - 11 am on Google Meet if you have any questions.
3/31: I have posted answers and solutions to the Electric Charge and Force questions #1-17, and the first part of my notes on Electric Field. More notes will arrive tomorrow. And from 9 - 11 am today I will be holding Office Hours on Google Meet.
4/1: I posted some notes today on Electric Field Lines and I will get some more on potential. I have more links to Derek Owen's videos on these topics. Tomorrow I will ask for the answers to questions #18-22 and Friday I will ask for #23-28 from the Electric Field packet.
4/2: Today I would like the answers to questions #18-22 from the Electric Field packet. Tomorrow I will want the answers to #23-28. Also tomorrow, I will have another Office Hours for Physics from 9 - 11 am.
4/3: Today I would like the answers to questions #23-28 from the Electric Field packet. Also, the Office Hours are happening today! Next week will be Electric Current and Ohm's Law.
