My wife, Dara, is a kindergarten teacher at East Petersburg in the Hempfield School District, and we live in Landisville. Our oldest daughter, Addalyn, is in tenth grade, and Aubrey is in ninth grade. Averianna is in seventh grade, and our youngest daughter, Ariella, is in fourth grade. Our son, Asher, is in second grade, and Andrew, the youngest Bower, is in kindergarten.
I grew up on a farm in Halifax, PA, and I attended Millersville University. After earning a degree in elementary education with minors in athletic coaching and music, I returned to MU to obtain a master's degree in language and literacy education. I also earned a master's degree in Learning, Design, and Technology from Penn State University.
The 2025-2026 school year is my ninth year at LIC and my 24th year of teaching. Previously, I taught in the Penn Manor School District, where I coached soccer and was the percussion instructor for the marching band. Since 2010, I have been a part-time instructor at my alma mater, Millersville University, where I teach instructional technology to pre-service and practicing teachers. I am also an educational consultant for The Source for Learning and MySciLife.
When I'm not driving my kids to dance, soccer, baseball, lacrosse, football, or field hockey, I enjoy spending time with my family, reading, participating in sports, and engaging in outdoor activities, as well as working on our family's farm. I'm also an avid fan of Penn State and Pittsburgh sports.
