Why Build the Patrick Wolgast Fieldhouse?
At Hemlock, we believe student success includes strong academics—and a strong foundation of health, wellness, and belonging. The Patrick Wolgast Fieldhouse is being built to expand year-round opportunities for students to stay active, train consistently, and build team culture beyond seasonal limitations.
We’re also responding to real health challenges that affect Michigan families. Public health data continues to show high rates of obesity and diabetes across the state, reinforcing the need for more accessible movement, fitness, and prevention-focused spaces for youth and communities.
A Legacy Worth Honoring
This building proudly carries the name Patrick Wolgast, honoring a legacy defined by grit, generosity, and a deep commitment to people. The Fieldhouse reflects the kind of leader Patrick was: hardworking, community-focused, and driven to make life better for others.
What the Fieldhouse Will Include
When completed, the Patrick Wolgast Fieldhouse will feature approximately:
8,000 sq. ft. of open activity space for year-round training, movement, and indoor practice
2,000 sq. ft. of additional functional space supporting amenities such as restrooms and specialized training features
How It’s Being Funded
The Patrick Wolgast Fieldhouse is a privately supported, collaborative effort, strengthened by:
A $1,000,000 Federal Community Project Funding grant
Generous private donations
In-kind support from community partners, including builder in-kind contributions (hemlockps.com)
Project Status & Timeline
Construction momentum has been strong—structural steel is up, exterior systems are advancing, and interior work is taking shape. The project remains on track for early 2026 completion.
