Hello Valle Vista Vikings!
My name is Nina Chamorro, and I am excited to continue my role as the School Counselor at Valle Vista Elementary. This is my third year at Valle Vista and my 9th year as a counselor in Hemet Unified School District. I absolutely love helping students and families and look forward to continuing to build those relationships this year. My goal is to help ALL students learn, grow, and to be the best version of themselves.
My focus will primarily be on social-emotional learning, and college and career readiness. I look forward to working with students individually, in small groups, and providing Social-Emotional Lessons in the classroom.
WHAT DOES A SCHOOL COUNSELOR DO?
School counselors work closely with parents, teachers, and staff to provide integral behavioral, college/career and social-emotional support for students. At the elementary level, school counselors provide the following services:
Individual short term counseling
Group counseling
Social skills training
Behavioral support
Classroom lessons
Risk assessments
Parent training/support
Conflict mediation
Data collection
Referrals to outside agencies
