✅ Shutdown & Restart Tips

• Don't just close the lid! That only puts it to sleep.
  
  

• Use the Power Button:
  Press and hold for 3 seconds, then select “Power off.”
  
  

• Restart fixes many problems, including WiFi, sound, and performance issues.
  
  

🎥 Webcam & 🎙️ Microphone Not Working?

Webcam:

• Check for a physical switch near the camera.
  
  

• If the lens shows red, it’s turned off manually.
  
  

Microphone:

• Press the microphone mute key (usually in the top-right row).
  
  

• Make sure it’s not muted in Chrome site settings:
  
  

  • Go to Chrome > ⋮ Menu > Settings > "Privacy and Security" > "Site Settings" > Check Microphone settings.
    
    

🔐 Changing Your Google Password

1. Click the time (bottom-right), then the gear icon (Settings).
   
   

2. Go to People > Manage your Google Account.
   
   

3. In the new tab, click Security.
   
   

4. Under "Signing in to Google," click Password.
   
   

5. Enter your current password, then a new password (8+ characters, avoid ID# or username).
   
   

6. Confirm it, then click Change Password.
   
   

🔄 Update ChromeOS

1. Click the time > Gear icon (Settings).
   
   

2. On the left, click About ChromeOS.
   
   

3. Click Check for updates.
   
   

4. If available, ChromeOS will download the update.
   
   

5. Restart when prompted.
   
   

💡 Keep ChromeOS updated to avoid app glitches or compatibility problems.

🧾 View Browsing History

1. Open Google Chrome.
   
   

2. Click the ⋮ (three dots) > History > History again.
   
   

3. You’ll see a list of websites visited, by date.
   
   

🧹 Clear Cache (Fixes many glitches!)

1. Open Chrome > ⋮ > Settings.
   
   

2. Go to Privacy and security > Clear browsing data.
   
   

3. Click the Advanced tab.
   
   

4. Choose Time range: “All time.”
   
   

5. Select:
   
   

   • ✅ Cached images and files
     
     

   • ✅ Cookies and site data
     
     

   • ✅ Site settings
     
     

   • ✅ Hosted app data
     (Optional: Browsing & download history)
     
     

6. ❌ DO NOT check Passwords or Autofill data!
   
   

7. Click Clear data.
   
   

8. Restart your Chromebook.
   
   

🔄 Hard Restart Chromebook

Hold down:

• Power button + Refresh key (⟳)
  
  

Good if your Chromebook freezes or becomes unresponsive.

⚠️ Powerwash (Factory Reset) — Use with Caution!

Only do this at home (must have WiFi password ready).

Steps:

1. Sign out > On login screen, press Ctrl + Alt + Shift + R.
   
   

2. Click Restart, then Powerwash.
   
   

3. Follow the prompts to reset.
   
   

4. Reconnect to WiFi, then sign in with your school account.
   
   

✅ Final Tips:

• Restart regularly — it helps more than you'd think.
  
  

• Keep ChromeOS up to date.
  
  

• Use the Powerwash only as a last resort.
  
  

• Always know your WiFi password before starting Powerwash.
