About Helping Hands Jammu
Helping Hands Jammu was established in 2021, during the peak of the COVID-19 Pandemic, when many people were facing severe hardships. The idea was founded by Sourav Sharma, who recognized the urgent need for support and formed a team to help underprivileged sections of society.
The organisation was initially formed as Helping Hands ‘Stop the Spread’ to combat the COVID-19 pandemic and raise awareness about safety measures. After the spread of the COVID-19 virus began to subside, the team recognized the need to continue their impactful work beyond the immediate crisis. and the name was officially changed to Helping Hands Jammu to better reflect the organisation’s roots in Jammu and its ongoing commitment to serving the community through various social welfare, environmental, and humanitarian initiatives.
In 2023, the team took a significant step forward by officially registering under the Societies Registration Act, 1860, with the Government of Jammu & Kashmir. Additionally, we are registered with Niti Aayog and e-Anudaan, the Government of India’s platform for NGOs.
Today, our volunteers are spread across Jammu, India and even abroad. We continue to work towards creating a positive impact on society, providing support where it is most needed.
