Grading & Late Work

Grading:

We utilize Standards Based Grading and assess students based on the Common Core published standards. 

Students' grades will be based on their understanding of specific concepts. Instead of receiving a letter grade, students receive grades in multiple different learning targets and can see which concepts they understood well and which they need to improve on. Below is the scale that will be used to show student understanding of concepts. 

Homework/Late Work:

• I understand how busy family life can be. Therefore, students will have time to work on all assignments in class and most students will complete work during school hours. Any unfinished work then becomes homework and is due the following school day.

• Students who are missing work will spend recess inside at study hall working on assignments until they are completed.

• Students who are sick or have an excused absence will need to return all assignments the day after they return to school in order to receive full credit.

• All work must be turned in prior to the end of the trimester.
