Grading:

I’d like to explain our approach to grading this year, which focuses on priority standards. This method helps us concentrate on the most crucial skills and knowledge your child needs to master.

Here’s how it works:

• Focus on Key Standards: We identify a set of essential learning standards that are critical for your child’s academic progress. These standards are our primary focus and will guide our instruction and assessments.

• Assessment of Mastery: Your child’s progress is measured based on their understanding and application of these key standards. Grades reflect their level of mastery in these areas rather than a cumulative score of all activities.

• Detailed Feedback: Instead of traditional grades, you’ll receive detailed feedback on how well your child is meeting these priority standards. This helps us identify specific strengths and areas for improvement.

Below is an example of how we will assess a students' progress in a subject.

Homework:

I want to share some important information about how we will handle classwork and assignments this year. In our class, I don’t assign traditional homework, but it’s important to stay on top of your work.

Here’s how it will work:

• Class Time Focus: All assignments and tasks are designed to be completed during our class time. It’s important to stay engaged and use this time effectively.

• Beyond Class Time: If you’re unable to finish your work during class, it will be expected to be completed outside of school hours. Think of it as a way to ensure you’re keeping up with your assignments and getting the practice you need.

By managing your time well in class, you can avoid having to take work home. I’m here to help you with any questions or difficulties you might have, so don’t hesitate to ask for support if you need it
