Title 1
About me
My name is Jessie Brown, this school year will be my 19th year of teaching. During my years as a teacher, I have taught kindergarten and 1st grade. I am excited about teaching Title 1 reading for the third year. I graduated with my B.A. in Elementary Education from the University of Montana - Western and earned my Master's Degree in Reading and Literacy from Walden University. Each year of teaching has been an exciting and different learning experience for me.
I was born and raised in Missoula, MT and love my hometown! Other interests outside of school include spending time with my family at the lake, water skiing, snow skiing, fishing, and being outdoors. I am married and have 2 children. My daughter is 11 and my son is 8. I look forward to a great school year and can't wait to teach your children. If you have any comments or questions, the best way to get a hold of me is by email. It is going to be a great year!

Class Overview
All students will benefit from Title 1 by receiving more individualized and small group instruction. Our class will help ensure that all children have the opportunity to obtain a high-quality education and to help achieve proficiency on academic standards and assessments.
Homework Policies
Homework is a constructive tool in the teaching/learning process geared to the needs and abilities of students. Purposeful assignments not only enhance student achievement, but also develop self-discipline and associated good working habits. As an extension of the classroom, homework must be planned and organized, must be viewed as purposeful to the students, and should be evaluated and returned to students in a timely manner.
Teachers may give homework to students to aid in the students' educational development. Homework should be an application or an adaptation of a classroom experience, and should not be assigned for disciplinary purposes.
Classroom Management Policies
If what you are doing INTERFERES with learning, HURTS someone's heart, or PREVENTS you from being your best self...you shouldn't be doing it.
Students in my classroom will be given chances to correct behavior with helpful reminders and explanations about why those behaviors are undesired. I believe that students at this age need to have a clear understanding as to why things are right or wrong and what they can do to have their needs met in a positive manner.
My system of management is meant to maintain positivity and create a fun and safe learning environment. Students will be held accountable for all behaviors and held to a high standard. I believe in helping students take initiative and ownership in all they do.
