Standard Based Report Card:

We utilize Standards Based Grading and assess students based on the Common Core published standards. Students' grades will be based on their understanding of specific concepts. Instead of receiving a letter grade, students receive grades in multiple different learning targets and can see which concepts they understood well and which they need to improve on. Below is the scale that will be used to show student understanding of concepts.

4 Exceeds Grade Level Standard

You demonstrate understanding beyond the standard consistently and independently.

3 Meets Grade Level Standard

You demonstrate understanding of grade level standards consistently and independently.

2 Partially or Progressing with Grade Level Standard

You demonstrate partial understanding of grade level standards with or without support.

1 Does Not Meet Grade Level Standard

You demonstrate minimal (or no) understanding of grade level standards and does not meet grade level standards even with support.

Homework will be served as practice. Homework will not be graded.

Late Policy:

If a student is absent the day of a test or quiz they will have time to complete the test or quiz based on how many days they have missed school. I will always remind the student a make up test needs to be completed and give them time to do so. If we have a classroom project or assignment it is expected to be completed on the given due date (usually we have time in class to complete an assignment or project and ask questions or  help if needed).

I know life happens and I will always accept late work. As long as the students are open and honest with me I have no problem offering more time on an assignment before the semester ends. No added stress on the students will be necessary in their work completion as long as they communicate with me why the assignment or project was missed in a timely manner and before the grading period ends.

Communication is key! Never hesitate to reach out to me if you have any questions regarding your child! :)
