Homework is a constructive tool in the teaching/learning process when geared to the needs and abilities of students. Purposeful assignments not only enhance student achievement, but also develop self-discipline and associated good working habits. As an extension of the classroom, homework must be planned and organized, must be viewed as purposeful to the students, and should be evaluated and returned to students in a timely manner.
Teachers may give homework to students to aid in the students educational development. Homework should be an application or an adaptation of a classroom experience, and should not be assigned for disciplinary purposes.
Homework given in the Health session will be an extension of what is done in class. In most cases students will have ample time in class to finish and assignment and any "homework" that results is due to a grace period or extension given to accommodate those students who need extra time. It is very important that students turn in required assignments on time. Tracking down missing work places a burden on the teacher and giving equal credit for late work is not fair to those students who complete work on time and use class time responsibly. Students who are having unusual difficulty with an assignment must contact me immediately before the due date if special consideration is to be given. Student who do not complete an assignment by the due date may turn it in one day late for partial credit. Please check the assignment monthly calendar to be sure of assignments and due dates.
If a student misses school and the reason is excused, they will have the number of days they were gone to complete the assignment (ie. excused absence of two days, the student will have two days upon return to complete and turn in assignment).
Students have 2 weeks to get the make-up form for the days they missed turned into Mr. Dungan
