Practices Canceled For Now
We recently moved from The Furnace to a new practice space and, unfortunately, our new home (that we were so excited about!) will be unavailable indefinitely due to unforeseen and unavoidable complications. Our brand-new rental agreement has been terminated, leaving our league without a home.
Our league is working hard to find a new space as soon as possible, because we cannot have regular practices without somewhere to skate. We are heartbroken by this unexpected loss, but are rallying together, as the Hellgate Roller Derby Family, to find a solution and a home.
Keep an eye our on our social media for announcements! And let us know if you have any practice space leads!

Practice:
Sussex School Gym ( 1800 S. 2nd St. W )
The gym’s availability will change (increase) in April, so we’ll likely have a change once we know what that looks like.
Scrimmage:
YMCA Gym ( 3000 S Russell St )
Specific schedules will be made a few months at a time, to accommodate for adult and junior home and travel game dates.
Scrimmage Gear Requirements
In order preserve the quality of the YMCA floor and attend scrimmages, you must have;
Clean skates and parts that do not have dirt or sand
Natural colored toe stops
83 or harder wheels, or hybrids that are not used outdoors
Teflon tape on the hard shell of pads (provided by HRD)
Entering the Sussex Gym
We are not allowed to let everyone have the code to the gate, so only BOD members and captains will have the code.
Please make sure to arrive 5-10 minutes before the practice time so everyone can come in together, as it is a little walk from the gate to the gym.
If you are going to be late, it is your responsibility to contact someone who will be there so they can come out to the gate and let you in, without skates on.
The code is needed in order to get in, but not to get out. It can be opened by anyone from the inside.
When you arrive, you can park in the small lot where the mini buses are, or on the street.
YMCA Gym Rules/Expectations:
Arrive between 7:45 & 8:00, so you’re there before the doors are locked at 8. Doors must remain locked & never propped open.
We are only allowed to use the big gym, welcome center/lobby, and stand-alone restrooms. NEVER the locker rooms, hallway, upstairs, or any other part of the Y.
Equipment rules must be followed (taped pads, natural toe stops, appropriate wheels) in order to be allowed to skate.
We have to remove any scuffs, chalk lines, etc, and dust-mop the floor before leaving. We’ll provide tennis balls & rags for that.
No misconduct, or smoking/drinking/drug use on the premises.
ONLY WATER is allowed in the gym itself. No food or other beverages.
