INJURY CARE
The athletic training staff will evaluate, treat, and rehabilitate your injuries, and work with each athlete individually to determine a course of action for returning to practices, games, or if necessary, referral to physicians.
Appropriate time for an athlete to seek assistance include before school or practice, during their athletic period, and after school or practice. If seeking attention during an athletic period, athletes are responsible for checking in with their coach for permission/attendance. Athletes may not be late to class or leave class to come to the training room for assistance.
morning treatments are from 8:00 AM - 8:45 AM daily
afternoon treatments begin immediately after school and last until approximately 5:00pm unless your sport practices later - must be in the training room within 30 minutes of getting off of the playing field/court
It is strongly recommended that athletes consult with the THS Staff Athletic Trainers before seeking medical attention from a physician regarding non-emergent injuries.
When athletes are seen by physicians, they must provide the THS Athletic Trainers with a physician's note. Please make sure that all notes from physicians include the following:
Date of visit
Physician's name
Office phone number
Diagnosis
Treatment plan
Follow up instructions
We MUST have ALL physician's notes on file as it is required by HEBISD. We MUST follow doctor's orders as they are documented. Student athletes will NOT be allowed to return to play without a note from the tending physician releasing them.
Treatment and Rehab Protocol
We provide acute and long term rehabilitation for athletic injuries. We work closely with our team physicians, and other medical professionals to provide quality healthcare to our athletes.
Athletes are expected to attend treatment and rehab times if injured. Before entering the Athletic Training Rooms, athletes should remove shoes and place belongings outside the doors in designated areas. All athletes should be signed in to the Daily Treatment Log before beginning rehab/treatment.
