My name is Lexa Richmond and I am the art teacher at EJH. I've been teaching for 25 years and have a Bachelor's degree in Music Education from West Texas A&M University and a Master's Degree in Educational Leadership from University of Texas Permian Basin. I am also certified to teach art and have my principal certification.

Required Supplies:
1- one inch three ring binder with pocket front
30 sheet protectors
8.5 x 11 inch sketchbook
District issued chromebook and headphones that fit device
Art Grading Policy:
Daily Work/Daily Project Work- 70% of 6 weeks grade
Completed Projects- 30% of 6 weeks grade
Art projects will be graded by rubric using the following:
20%=Creativity/Originality
20%= Use of Elements and/or Principles
20%=Craftsmanship
20%=Understanding, Achievement, and Completion
20%=Effort and Participation
Canvas
Students will find all assignments for this class in Canvas. All work must be done in class.
Late Work Policy:
No late work will be accepted after the due date.
Students have 1 day per absence up to 5 absences/days to make up work. No work will be accepted after the grading period closes. Should a student need extra credit to improve their grade, they must come see Ms. Richmond at least one week before the grading period ends.
Tardy Policy:
1st Tardy- Teacher warning
2nd Tardy-Teacher warning
3rd Tardy- detention
4th or more Tardy – written infraction
Once the bell rings, the door will be closed and students will be subject to the school tardy policy. Students must be physically in the classroom when the tardy bell rings and class begins. Students will be dismissed at the end of class by the teacher and not the bell.
Leave Passes
Students will be provided with THREE hall passes per six weeks.Students may not use the restroom for the first 10 minutes of class or the last 10 minutes of class.
Discipline Policy:
First offense - verbal warning
Second offense - detention
Third offense - Parent phone call and email
Fourth offense - written infraction
Cell Phone Free Environment
The use of cell phones in class is not permitted. Students are responsible for keeping their phone put away. Should a student use a cell phone during an unspecified time, they will get one warning to put it away before Ms. Richmond takes it for the remainder of class. Phone calls, taking pictures, making videos, TikTok and/or FaceTime as well as inappropriate content on a student’s phone during class time is not acceptable. Recurring infractions will result in the phone being confiscated and turned into the front office. If a parent/guardian needs to contact a student during school hours, they must contact the student through the front office. NO EXCEPTIONS WILL BE MADE.
