Lance Newman is in his 15th year of teaching overall, and this is his fifth year as head choir director at Trinity High School. He leads the A Cappella Mixed Choir, Tenor-Bass Choir, and co-leads the JV Mixed and Varsity Treble Choir and Harmony Show Choir with Mrs. Carnley.
Mr. Newman has consistently achieved Sweepstakes ratings at UIL and has placed students into the TMEA All-State, All-Region, and All-District Choirs. Mr. Newman previously assisted at Arlington High School for one year, led the choral program at Euless Junior High for six years, and started his career as assistant choir director at Briarhill MS (three years) and Downing MS (1 year) in Lewisville ISD.
Mr. Newman grew up in the Hurst-Euless-Bedford area where he was a student at Harwood Junior High and graduated from Trinity High School in 2007. He attended the University of North Texas College of Music and received a Bachelor's of Music Education with honors. In 2011, Mr. Newman was chosen to represent UNT as a TCDA Student Conductor. While at UNT, Mr. Newman served as both assistant camp director and camp counselor for the All-State Choir Camp, which supports 275 area high school campers in the learning of their All-State literature. In 2020, Mr. Newman finished his second journey at UNT by completing the Master's of Music Education program.
Outside of teaching, Mr. Newman sings in the University Christian Church Chancel Choir and rings in the Ad Deum Handbell Choir. He is excited to travel on a handbell tour through England in Summer 2027! He has also previously been honored to perform with Fort Worth Chorale, Voices of Fort Worth, Highland Park Chorale, and the Dallas Symphony Chorus.
Mr. Newman enjoys spending time with his wife Nadia (herself a Trinity alum whom he met in choir!) In his spare time, he enjoys watching movies, listening to his record collection, playing video games, and participating in trivia competitions.
