Hi! Welcome to the 2023-2024 school year, we made it!!Â
I am so excited to start a new school year here at BJH! This will be my third year at BJH, but my 9th year teaching. I taught Fine Arts for PreK-5th grade in Texarkana, TX for 2 years, self-contained Special Education for 3rd-5th grade in Lonoke, AR for 2 years, and 2 years teaching children with traumatic brain injuries and behavioral disorders in Benton, AR. This year, I have the honor of teaching the FACI program in ELAR and Social Skills for grades 7th-9th.
I am originally from Texarkana, TX, but have spent most of my adult life in the beautiful state of Arkansas. I attended college at the University of Arkansas (Woo Pig!) where I graduated in 2015 and earned my Bachelor's degree in Science with a focus on Educational Studies. In 2019, I earned my Master's degree in Special Education K-12 from Arkansas State University. Then in the summer of 2021, I decided to move back to the great state of Texas to be closer to my family.
In my spare time, I am usually looking for an outdoor activity or some water to swim in with my three dogs Kixx (Husky), Ember, and Ammo (both German Shepherds), or am relaxing at home with a good book or binge watching a good show on Netflix/Hulu. I also help foster dogs for Apollo Support and Rescue, so if you're looking for a fur baby, I can happily assist you!
I am so looking forward to working with your child this year! If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to call, email, or use the Remind app. It is going to be a great year full of progress! Go Broncos!!
