This marks my 32nd year in education with 23 years in HEB. My counseling experience in HEB is comprised of 3 years as a Central Junior High, 14 years at L.D. Bell, and starting my 6th year at KEYS. Before coming to HEB, I taught Pre-K and Kindergarten teacher at Castleberry Elementary for 10 years.
I graduated from the great Texas Tech University (Guns Up!) with a Bachelor of Science degree in Home Economics (this is humorous to those who know me well) and a Master of Education in Counseling from the University of North Texas. I have one son, a daughter-in-law and 3 precious grandchildren! I enjoy spending time with family and friends, traveling, working in the garden (at times), being involved with activities at my church and fostering cats and kittens. I absolutely love a good flea market or estate sale!
It is my privilege to work as the guidance counselor at KEYS High School. My desired outcome is to ensure that all students are challenged and supported towards achieving success as they develop intellectually, socially and emotionally. Please let me know if I can assist you in any way.
While it is important that a student's conversations with a school counselor be kept confidential, confidentiality does have its limitations. According to the American School Counselor Association's Ethical Standards for School Counselors, counselors must "keep information confidential unless legal requirements demand that confidential information be revealed or a breach is required to prevent serious and foreseeable harm to the student." (American School Counselor Association [ASCA], 2010).
The most frequent type of breaches include a student verbalizing the following:
Verbal, Physical or Sexual Abuse
Neglect
A desire to harm him/herself
A desire to harm someone else
An unreported sexual assault
