My name is Kathi O'Neill and I am here to help students find their "math legs". This (2025) is my 15th year teaching after working on high speed machinery in manufacturing for 20 years as an electrical engineer. I show how the topics we are learning in class relate to how it is applied in the real world. In my previous schools I taught Precalculus, Advanced Algebra 2, Advanced Algebra 2 with Precalculus, Algebra 2, and Geometry. Additionally, I was the math coach for academic competitions.
I am a native Wisconsinite but came to Texas for a few years but decided to stay. While I have been here for over 30 years, I still have my accent and sound like I just arrived. I attended the local state college, University of Wisconsin - Milwaukee and earned my Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering.
I am the proud mother of three grown children, Mark, Jake and Emily and switched to teaching after my third child arrived so I could prioritize my family time with my children.
I was a student that struggled on state testing in math growing up and tested below grade level so I know what not understanding the math personally feels like. Everyone puts the pieces together at their own speed and with the right support. We will all get there. I want to be your teacher that helps you get there if you are struggling or want to launch you off to higher levels if you are not being challenged. We desperately need more "math minded" people out there.
How can I help you?
