Why Attendance Matters
Academic success is closely tied to consistent attendance.
Students who attend regularly are more likely to stay on track for credits and graduation.
Students must be present for at least 90% of each semester to maintain eligibility for course credit.
Missing more than 8 days in a semester may result in loss of credit, even with passing grades.
If a student misses more than 8 days, they will be required to make up their absences through attendance recovery or other interventions.
Reporting an Absence
If you know your student will be absent, you must inform the Attendance Secretary immediately by phone call, email, or by submitting a attendance request in Skyward Family Access.
Absence documentation may be:
Uploaded through Skyward.
Documentation should be submitted within three school days of the student’s return.
Doctor/dental notes must include the appointment date and provider’s signature.
Truancy & Excessive Absences
Ongoing absences without documentation may lead to disciplinary action and possible reporting to truancy authorities.
Families will be notified if a student accumulates excessive absences.
Tardy Policy
Any student not in class when the bell rings is considered tardy.
If a student misses the majority of the class, it will be recorded as an absence.
Students must sign in at the front office if arriving late.
Repeated tardies may result in disciplinary consequences.
Homework Requests
Homework may be requested if a student is absent for 3 or more consecutive days.
Students and Parents can email the teachers via Skyward Family Access Accounts.
Exemption Policy (for Exam Exemptions)
- 0–2 absences = 2 exemptions
- 3–4 absences = 1 exemption
- 5+ absences = No exemptions
